Semester 2

Welcome to Semester 2!

Dear 2CC

And what a start we’ve made. Our first couple of weeks were spent in the final rehearsals for the work, FArTHER. It was such a pleasure to work with Paul Rissman and a privilege to perform with the ASO. We are among only very few who could say they’ve sung with the ASO.

Last weekend we had 11 members attend our choir rehearsal day, full of fun and learning. It was so valuable to have the extra time and we were able to get through all of our repertoire for the remainder of the year and play some new games. The choristers enjoyed teaching me the Frog game. I loved it!

Our focus for the second half of the year is to press on and continue developing our choral and vocal skills but particularly our self discipline in the rehearsal. We have had a few discussions about the need to stop the chatting and interrupting and improve our focus while we are working on a piece. At 2CC level and at our age we need to be able to use our time better. I look forward to our choir making the most of our rehearsals and becoming fully engaged and focused choristers, in the manner of Young Adelaide Voices.

Looking ahead we have some wonderful performances to prepare for. From our own YAV Christmas event, to the pageant and an invitation from the Woodville Concert Choir to be their guest artist. We have some fun Christmas pieces to learn and a special Christmas carol which we will teach our 2CC families next term.

I look forward to seeing our families at the upcoming performances.

Please check the dates provided and add them to your diary. Further information will be provided for each event closer to the time.

YAV Performance Costume

Dear Parents

With events fast approaching for choristers in almost all of our choirs, now is a great time to check to make sure your daughter/son has the required uniform for performances, and that it fits adequately.

For Second Concert Choir the Performance Costume is as below:

Green T-Shirt – available from the office $35 new or $15 pre loved (limited quantity of pre-loved T-Shirts available)

Black Trousers – must be dress trousers and not track pants, leggings or jeans. We have a small selection of pre-loved trousers available in the office and if we don’t have a pair to fit your child we can advise where to buy

Black shoes – closed shoes such as school shoes/Mary Janes. Not trainers or canvas pumps.

Black socks

Please see me in the office to organise a performance costume

Kind regards

Aurora Pop up Performance

Dear friends and supporters,

Aurora has been invited to be one of the guest artists at the Desert Song Festival in Alice Springs.  We are sharing performances with many amazing vocal groups as well as working with the Soweto Gospel Choir and the Darwin’s Arafura Collective.

This opportunity has been more of a last minute one than expected, so with the incredible generosity of St Peter’s Cathedral, we are going to pop up and perform our touring repertoire at 3pm on Sunday 25 August at St Peter’s Cathedral.

What do you need to do?

Just be there and ready to listen to our repertoire – we’ll even give you the opportunity to move seats to listen to repertoire differently if you fancy.  Just act surprised when we turn up.  It doesn’t cost you anything.

What’s in store?

A variety of Australian and international works, with the first performance development of “Lost”, composed by YAV’s Composer in Residence Rachel Bruerville, with inspiration from the Aurora girls.  Included in the selection are works by David John Lang, Ross Edwards, Kate Miller-Heidke, Ola Gjeilo and JS Bach.

Let us sing for you!

Aurora goes pop! A pop-up performance in preparation for the Desert Song Festival in Alice Springs 6 – 15 September 2019

Magically appearing at 3pm in St Peter’s Cathedral, King William Road, North Adelaide, Sunday 25th August.

Duration 45 minutes unless I get chatty…

People’s Choice Community Lottery

Dear Parents and Choristers

Please can I ask that any People’s Choice Lottery Tickets are returned as soon as possible (this week or next week would be ideal).

I also have a  further 21 booklets and I am looking for happy sellers to take them off my hands!!!  If you are able to take another booklet to sell, please call in at the office and collect.

On another note…………….I also have one more box of chocolates that need selling! Any takers?  Otherwise it will be another box sitting in the office that the staff will eat 🙂

Thank you all for your continued support!

Kind regards
